June 2010
Now all of the Chelsea mayhem is behind us, it's been a month of focusing on current projects and bringing in new business for autumn, which is already starting to look busy.
We're back in Sheen this month to do the front garden and driveway for the same clients whose back garden we built last year. The front garden is being finished with a combination of York stone and Nidagravel, with the lighting being done by The Outdoor Lighting Company, www.theoutdoorlightingcompany.co.uk.
We're also back at Garlands in The Haven building the second pond which is approximately 50m long x 20m wide x 2.5m deep. This is to be clay puddled and is naturally fed from an existing stream that runs through the property.
Our other projects for Andy Sturgeon in Horsham and Marcus Barnett in Kent and the Cotswolds are coming along beautifully and should be finished on schedule.
The Outdoor Room is delighted to have secured sponsorship for the Horsham Junior Baseball Club www.horshambaseball.co.uk. Three of my children play baseball and the atmosphere and friendly, family oriented environment is fantastic. Have a look at the website and come down and see for yourselves.
On a much sadder note, two people who were very good friends of mine passed away recently. Geoff Smith was The Outdoor Room bookkeeper for over 13 years and always helped with the development and growth of the business. Peter Hillman was actually my best friends father who was regarded by many peers as one of the greatest plasterers in the world. Although living in Spain, Peter flew over last year to render the walls on our Chelsea show garden. Both Geoff and Peter will be greatly missed.
Finishing on a happier note, our manager Joe Perkins has now become the fourth director of The Outdoor Room. Joe's proven to be a huge asset to the business with his organisational and design skills. Joe's been with us for over 18 months and I'm thrilled about him making a long term commitment to the company.
As ever, if you have any landscaping enquiries, please don't hesitate to call, or if you have any garden lighting requirements, please contact The Outdoor Lighting Company, www.theoutdoorlightingcompany.co.uk
