Garden Design, Consultation & Construction

Newsletter

June 2009

I'd like to start this newsletter by congratulating Thomas Hoblyn on his success at Chelsea. Considering the tight budget restraints and the fact that the design was upgraded from a small garden to a show garden, with no extra sponsorship, Tom and his assistant, Ros, were a pleasure to work with and between us, we managed to produce a fantastically built and beautiful garden. As both Tom and The Outdoor Room were on the back of 3 consecutive RHS Gold Medals, we were slightly disappointed with a Silver, and we took some comfort knowing that the judges' feedback was predominantly subjective.

Future Gardens, in St. Albans, is now open to the public and runs until September. We built 2 gardens for the exhibition, one for Marcus Green and the other for Andy Sturgeon, and we wish them every success with the show.

I thought that after such a hectic May, we might have been able to have a slightly more relaxed June. Not a chance! I have been inundated with new enquiries and busy catching up with current projects. There really is no rest for the wicked!

As usual, all of the staff have worked incredibly hard and diligently over this period and have supported me tremendously, for which I owe them a great many thanks.

Alex is heading a team on a huge project in Billingshurst, designed by Nigel Philips. This involves the construction of a new lake, kitchen garden, resin-bonded driveways, bespoke sawn Limestone terraces around a new swimming pool and a football pitch.

Gavin and Ali have been working on a beautifully designed contemporary garden by Andy Sturgeon in Edburton, near Brighton.

Dan has been running a project in Sheen, near Richmond Park, which has been designed by Marcus Barnett. This involves paving around the client's new swimming pool, terraces and steps, all in bespoke cut and sandblasted Yorkstone, as well as planting mature trees which have come from a nursery in Germany.

We've got some really exciting projects coming up over the next few months, so do keep an eye out on this newsletter to find out what we're up to and please don't hesitate to contact us to discuss any projects you would like us to build for you.

Our next newsletter shall be posted in July 2009

Have a great summer!
